Based out of northwest India, the fine dining group Punjab Grill began their first foray into the American dining scene with American Tandoor. American Tandoor starts with the spirit of India's traditional dishes, styles, colors, and flairs and reimagines them with a twist of modern American character. A more casual take on the usual Punjab Grills, American Tandoor is the more approachable version for Americans first familiarizing themselves with Indian food. Their first introduction are the tandoors anchoring the open kitchen and establishing the central kitchen visual. That same theme is carried into the dining room with large inverted custom 'tandoor' light fixtures that illuminate the seating area that fans out from the central battery of tandoor ovens. Fun and light hearted colors, patterns, and textures frame the dining room and bar and provide not just the callback to Indian pastiche, but also provide acoustical absorption, visual interest, and comfort to the diners.
